Your Massage Therapist - Selecting A Great Masseuse
As massage therapy has grown into a huge industry, it seems
as if everybody and their brother are becoming a licensed
massage therapist to try and cash in on the
trend.
And you really can't blame them. There's seemingly plenty of
work and the startup costs are relatively low. And it sure
beats working a stressful corporate job all day.
This trend can be both good and bad for anyone seeking a
quality massage. It's good in that there are now plenty of
choices, but it can be rough at times deciding on which massage
therapist you should see. A good place to start is always
recommendations. Ask friends, family members and coworkers
which massage therapist they go to and if they are happy with
the results. But don't rely solely on recommendations. Doing a
little of your own research as well should help you end up with
a truly relaxing massage.
Remember that each massage therapist will provide you with a
different service. Some, for instance, are willing to do house
calls for an additional fee. Is that something you are looking
for? That should be one of your first questions. Do you want a
masseuse to come to you or are you willing to go to them? And
if you are willing to travel, how far will you go? Therapists
will also use different oils or creams. If you know of a
particular ointment that you really love, find out if the
therapist uses it, or if he at least is willing to use it at
your request. You should also do a little research into the
history of a massage therapist. Find out how long he's been in
business and if he'll provide you with some client names for
references.
One last thing, always check out his or her equipment. Make
sure you massage therapist puts a high value on cleanliness.
You'd be surprised at the number of them who don't wash their
towels, tables or linens frequently enough. Always look for a
massage therapist who apears to be squeeky clean.
