The Perfect Foot Massage - Technique Is Everything
It doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, there are few
things more relaxing than a great foot massage
after a hard day.
Unfortunately, most people have no idea of the proper
techniques that make for the ideal massage. Generally, an
amateur foot massage consists or rubbing the spots that hurts
most until it seemingly feels better. The result is the pain
returns once the massage stops, leaving the person getting the
massage thinking that maybe a massage isn't really the answer.
We'll try and take care of that problem here. If you've ever
wanted to give your spouse a fantastic foot massage, there's a
right way and a wrong way to do it. Get it right, and you'll be
his or her hero for life.
Step one is to simply clean the feet well. The best way to
do this is by soaking the feet in Epsom salts before drying
them fully. While for hygiene purposes this seems like a no
brainer, it also serves another purpose. It serves as the first
step in the stress relief process.
After the feet are dry, it's probably a good idea to use
some form of massage cream or oil. It's even more important if
you are massaging dry or damaged feet. Start the massage by
working the cream into the foot with a gentle and light rubbing
motion around the whole foot. Once the oil or cream has been
worked in, it's not time to go much deeper with your foot
massage. You want to use long strokes at this point as you work
your fingers into the muscles and bones for greater
effectiveness.
You want to work one portion of the foot at a time. Start
with the top of the feet before moving on to the soles and
finally the toes. In this way you can be sure everything has
been massaged.
Finally, finish your foot massage by giving the foot a final
stretch by twisting it in all directions. This will be the
conclusion of a great massage. Just be careful not to get too
good or you'll likely be giving a foot massage every night.
